Unions says Ontera sale to Bell Alliant not final

Contrary to what northern development minister Michael Gravelle said about Ontera being sold to Bell Alliant, the union says not so.  Ron Marleau, the vice president of District 6 of the Steelworkers, says the deal is not final although the Liberals want the public to believe it is.  Marleau says Ontera is worth about $60 million, not counting worker liability issues and it’s being sold for only $ 6 million.  He says that means taxpayers have already paid for Ontera and the province is giving it away.  A major concern is the province will give Bell subsidies in the future to  keep servicing remote areas but Ontera already has that mandate.  Marleau says the goal is to stop Ontera from being sold to Bell.
