A couple of projects that are improving energy efficiency at the Near North District School Board are receiving federal funding.

Over $290,000 is coming from Ottawa’s Climate Action Incentive Fund (CAIF).

The funding covered the installation of a rooftop HVAC/ERV and controls at Chippewa Secondary School, which will improve energy efficiency.

The second project involved the replacement of the roof and insulation at Mattawa District Public School, which will reduce heat loss.

After the work was completed in the fall of 2020, the board applied to the federal program when it was announced.

CAIF is designed to help school boards make energy efficiency improvements and retrofits that reduce energy use, costs and carbon pollution.
