Strike continues at Nipissing University

There’s still no school today for students at Nipissing University.

Full time faculty are walking the picket lines after talks with administration fell through. The biggest sticking points are wages and job security. President of the Nipissing Faculty Association, Susan Srigly, says they make the lowest salaries out of any university in the province. The average salary for full time faculty at the university is $107,000.

The university’s latest offer includes a 3% increase over three years. Administration says the faculty union is asking for a 6.1% increase. Meanwhile, President of Nipissing University, Dr. Mike DeGagne, says if the strike continues over a long period of time, it could impact the fall semester.
