Health Unit encourages workplaces to develop vaccination policies

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has launched a new COVID-19 workplace vaccination policy toolkit.

Louise Gagné, Executive Director of Community Services, says the toolkit is designed to help workplaces develop a vaccination policy for their staff.

“We recognize that having a workplace vaccination policy is an important measure to promote the safety of employees and the public.  We strongly recommend that every workplace develop and implement such a policy,” she says.

The Health Unit has also developed an education module to help employees better understand the importance of being vaccinated.

Details on the toolkit and education module can be found on the Health Unit’s website.

With the province’s vaccine certificate program starting next Wednesday, September 22nd, Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health, says the Health Unit can offer support.

“As we move to the vaccine certificate program, the Health Unit is here to help answer your questions, provide vaccinations, download your vaccine certificate and if you don’t have access to a computer or internet, print your certificate for you,” he says.

Dr. Chirco also says as of October 22nd the province will be launching a QR code system for establishments to monitor vaccination status more easily.

As of Thursday morning, 19 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last seven days.

Five cases are in schools in the district, with no outbreaks.
