Virtual Terry Fox Run takes place Sunday locally

North Bay’s Terry Fox Run is being held virtually again this year.

The fundraiser for cancer research goes Sunday, September 19th.

“Unfortunately we aren’t having a giant launch and we aren’t all joining at the same time down at the waterfront, but we absolutely are still all walking or running either a 5K or 10K in Terry Fox’s honour,” says Carla Tucker, Organizer of the North Bay event. “It’s just taking more of a one person at a time approach as opposed to a big group of us celebrating and raising funds.”

Even though there is no group event, she says there will be a small presence at the waterfront.

“We will be doing a bit of a pop-up with some T-shirts and stuff down at the Rotary Pavilion from 10 am to 12 noon on Sunday. We still have a lot of people doing fundraising the old-fashioned way, knocking on doors and collecting cash, so if anybody out there is doing that kind of fundraising they can drop off their funds that day,” Tucker says.

She says if anyone would like to make a virtual donation they can do so at TerryFox.org or check out their North Bay Terry Fox Run page on Facebook for a variety of links.

This is the 41st anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.
