Provincial funding for two area hospitals

Area health care is getting a $1.4 million boost from the province.

MPP Vic Fedeli announced over $416,000 to support infrastructure upgrades, repairs and maintenance at the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) and $20,000 for the Mattawa General Hospital.

NBRHC is also receiving just under $1 million for up to five additional transitional beds, to build capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Upgrading and maintaining hospitals is one more way our government is ensuring residents in Nipissing receive the exceptional care when they need it,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing.  “These crucial investments will help build the capacity needed to end hallway health care while ensuring our hospitals have the tools they need to improve the quality of care for patients and continue responding to COVID-19.”

The province is providing $175 million to hospitals through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund and $7.6 million to community health service providers through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
