More OMPF funding for North Bay

Over $16.5 million is on it’s way to municipalities in Nipissing through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF).

The City of North Bay receives the bulk of the money at $10.3 million.

That’s an increase of about $250,000 compared to the amount received for this year.

Mattawa and Powassan both receive over a million dollars each.

Other communities receiving funding include Bonfield, Callander, Calvin, Chisholm, East Ferris, Mattawan, Nipissing and Papineau-Cameron.

“Our government recognizes the importance of the OMPF to communities across the province,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “I am pleased that municipalities in Nipissing will continue to benefit from this important provincial program.”

Ontario has been consulting with municipalities on their priorities for OMPF.

In a release, the province says throughout these discussions, municipal partners have stressed the importance of stability and predictability, particularly during these uncertain times.

“Predictable and timely financial support from the Province is essential for budget planning in small and rural municipalities,” says Graydon Smith, President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. “The early rollout of stable 2022 Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund allocations sets the stage for effective budget planning for the year ahead.”
