A new power-to-data centre is coming to North Bay.
Validus Power Corp recently acquired several idle power plants across the north, with plans to re-commission them to support energy demands in the high-tech sector.
The move is expected to create about 100 full-time jobs across the north.
In North Bay, 30 jobs will be created, including engineers, facility operators, power plant technicians, and data center technicians.
Validus will be investing over $100 million over the next 24 months to support this effort and will be opening three power-to-data sites in Northern Ontario in the coming months.
The company says that includes the proposed 32,000 square foot data center in North Bay.
A ground-breaking ceremony is taking place Monday, October 25th on Highway 11 North.
Validus says the project will spur economic development in North Bay and position Northern Ontario as a viable location for technological investment and growth.
