One section of Au Château Home for the Aged in West Nipissing is dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19.
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says it was made aware on Monday of two individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.
Section A is currently closed to visitors and COVID-19 testing is underway for all staff and residents.
The Health Unit also says additional infection prevention and control measures are in place, facility-wide.
“Our staff are working collaboratively with Au Château staff to manage the outbreak,” said Dr. Jim Chirico Medical Officer of Health. “It is critical that everyone continues to follow public health measures including full vaccination against COVID-19, washing hands often and staying home if unwell, even if fully vaccinated, to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives. Being fully vaccinated is the best protection we have against COVID-19.”
The outbreak investigation is ongoing.
