Council approves a few fee increases

Monthly water bills are going up.

Council has approved the water and wastewater operating budget at just over $24 million.

That’s up about 2.3 percent from last year.

It means an extra $2.38 a month for an average household consuming 14 cubic metres of water.

A household consuming 16 cubic metres of water will see an increase of $2.60 per month.

Consuming 20 cubic metres of water will result in a monthly increase of $3.02.

Also approved by council was $2 per tag for extra containers of trash.

That starts January 1st, 2022 and is up from the current ‘buck-a-bag’.

Earlier this year, council approved a reduction in the number of garbage containers that can be put to the curb from three to two, also starting in the new year.

Also approved were new rates for monthly parking.

The increase ranges between $4 and $15 a quarter, depending on the parking lot.
