Bears Musical Theatre performing ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’

Tickets are now on sale for the Bears Musical Theatre program’s video-on-demand production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.

The class at St Joseph-Scollard Hall is inviting the community to enjoy the rock opera from the comfort of their own home on Friday, December 10th and Saturday, December 11th.

“Although nothing beats a live performance, we are so proud of the work of our students, who have put together something really special,” says Brian Overholt, Music Teacher at SJSH. “In this time where everything seems to be turned upside down, we felt that we had a duty to provide our students with the opportunity to engage in a class that they love so much,” says Overholt.

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/56959.

“I love all the music and it was nice to learn the songs my parents have sung at home my entire life,” says grade twelve stage manager Genevieve Dunn. “We had a lot of fun rehearsing to perform for a camera, instead of a live audience once again this year. It was a different kind of challenge for us as a Musical Theatre class, but we got to be creative in some new and exciting ways.”

Officials say all enhanced health and safety protocols were followed in the planning and facilitation of the musical theatre production, including daily self-screening, student cohorting and masking requirements.

Staff also followed the local protocol for extracurriculars and theatre performances, to ensure they and their students maintained the highest possible safety standards as well as the continuity of learning.
