Mild weather and rain impacting area snow depth

Average snow depth is down in the area after a few mild days and rain while water content is right around normal.

Measurements were taken by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) on December 15th in North Bay, Corbeil and Chisholm.

“The average snow depth for all sites is 10.1 cm (56% normal) and average water equivalence is 27 mm (98% normal),” says Angela Mills, North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) Water Resources Specialist.

Snow depth last year at this time was nearly 28 cm with water content at nearly 48 mm.

NBMCA measures snow depth and water content as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.
