The MPP for Timiskaming-Cochrane doubts the province is committed to the ONTC’s long-term sustainability. John Vanthof says first the Liberals got rid of rail transportation in the north, buses were next and now they’re strong arming the workers with a strike in North Bay.
Vanthof says this doesn’t instill confidence for northerners and leaves people with the impression the Liberals are not committed the Ontario Northland. However, minister of northern development Michael Gravelle says the Liberals are committed to the ONTC’s long-term sustainability and getting the collective agreements in place are crucial to that sustainability.
