Near North Crime Stoppers says 2021 was another successful year for them.
They received 764 new tips last year, with over 75% submitted anonymously to nearnorthcrimestoppers.com.
“Tips received have led police to recover a substantial amount of illegal drugs and stolen property this past year,” says Jean Lemieux, Near North Crime Stoppers Police Coordinator. “Anonymous information also led to the arrest of 25 persons in 2021, bringing the total number to 1,741 since 1988.”
Chad Evans, Board chair, says the number one issue year-after-year is still drug related criminal activity.
“Board statistics show that, since inception in 1988, over $57 million in illegal drugs have been seized by police, thanks to anonymous tips received through Near North Crime Stoppers”.
January is Crime Stoppers month with this year’s theme ‘Stop the Crime of Human Trafficking’.
Anyone with information on Human Trafficking or any other crimes can call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
