Seniors projects receive $29,000 in funding

Two area projects that look to enrich the lives of seniors have received provincial funding.

Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced a total of $29,000 for projects that look to help seniors to stay fit, active and healthy.

$25,000 is for Canadore College’s Joining Municipal and Indigenous Communities to Build Connection in Nature.

The project will bridge Indigenous and Non-Indigenous community members in the West Parry Sound area.

The rest of the funding, $4,000, is for Community Living North Bay’s Seniors Connect program.

This pilot project involves the purchase of two laptops with specialized technology to assist isolated seniors to connect with friends, family and the community.

Local university students will engage with seniors using this technology.

“These projects will make a big difference in the lives of seniors here in North Bay,” says Fedeli.“They offer meaningful opportunities for older adults to safely take part in local life and keep connected to friends, family and the community.”
