Federal funding for infrastructure planning in the area

Ottawa is providing $240,000 to five municipalities in Nipissing-Timiskaming for infrastructure planning.

The money will help Callander, Calvin, East Ferris, Powassan and Latchford with their Asset Management Programs.

“Investing in infrastructure planning here in Nipissing-Timiskaming is an important step to building strong communities. These past months have reinforced the importance of public infrastructure that supports sustainable and healthy communities where all residents can thrive,” says Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming. “The Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP) provides tools and training to help local governments make sound, data-driven decisions about their investments, ultimately leading to better results for all residents.”

He says the MAMP aims to strengthen infrastructure investment decisions based on reliable data and sound asset management practices through asset management training, funding, and information sharing.
