New winter boots donated to those in need

The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay is reporting another successful donation campaign.

Earlier this month, and in just three days, they collected a trunk full of mitts and thermal socks along with about 50 pairs of brand-new winter boots for those in need.

“Once again, we had a great outpouring of generosity from the community,” stated Rebecca Riesen, lead organizer of the Soles for Souls. “Organizations like The Gathering Place’s Day-time Warming Centre, the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, and The Aids Committee of North Bay, were very excited and thankful to receive the brand-new mitts, thermal socks and boots to clothe the homeless in the frigid winter weather.”

The committee is now planning for their summer Backpacks of Love campaign, filling backpacks with essential items for the homeless locally.
