Expect to see increased military activity at 22 Wing CFB North Bay this week.
The training exercise ‘Local Dragon’ starts at 7:30 am on Wednesday and runs through the afternoon of Saturday, March 5.
Travel delays can be expected with vehicle and passenger checkpoints, with all visitors to 22 Wing being told to carry valid photo identification.
“Residents could encounter military members wearing protective gear and carrying weapons on base,” states a release. “Expect the use of emergency response vehicles, as well, there may be simulated explosions and gunfire.”
The training exercise will focus on potential domestic threats within 22 Wing’s area of operation.
Normal NORAD operations will not be impacted.
