Boardwalk replacement the focus of Laurier Woods fundraiser

The Friends of Laurier Woods are looking to replace two boardwalks that surround the main pond in the conservation area.

A $30,000 fundraising campaign, entitled Walk with Friends, has been launched.

“These boardwalks have been exposed to the elements for over 20 years, and with increased usage require additional safety considerations for the wildlife that depend on the protection of

the area as habitat & visitors,” states a release. “The reconstruction will include new footings, wider decking, and a raised safety bumper.” Construction is planned for the winter of 2023 with an alternate access into the trail network to be provided.
