OHL investigation underway after reports of harassment during Battalion game

Reports say a Russian-born player on the North Bay Battalion team was the victim of a slur during a game.

The incident is said to have happened last night (Thursday) when the Battalion played the Sudbury Wolves.

Two players on the Battalion were born in Russia and it’s not clear which one was targeted.

A representative from the Ontario Hockey League tells the Vista Radio National News Desk that the league has a strict discrimination, harassment and bullying policy, including discrimination based on country of origin.

They add it’s their intention to enforce the policy for any discrimination or harassment against Russian and Belarusian players.

They finish by saying the matter from Thursday night’s game is presently under investigation.
