The City of North Bay has won an award for exceptional commitment to battery recycling.
They’ve been named a 2021 Leader in Sustainability by Call2Recycle Canada.
In 2021, the city was one of the Call2Recycle program’s top-performing partners, having collected 6,573 kilograms of household batteries.
“We’re proud to be named a leader in sustainability and I would like to thank our residents for helping us achieve this recognition,” says Mayor Al McDonald. “As a City we are committed to becoming more environmentally sustainable through continued support and participation in programs that will help keep hazardous materials from polluting our environment and that divert recyclables from our landfill.”
The City of North Bay has been collecting and shipping batteries for recycling through its Household Hazardous Waste Depot on Patton Street for approximately 20 years.
