No injuries reported after morning fire at Golden Age Towers

So far, no injuries are being reported after a morning fire at the Golden Age apartments in North Bay.

Jason Whiteley, Chief of North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, says crews got the call at 7:11 this morning.

“When crews arrived we saw a fire at the 8th floor, apartment 811, and we had flames visible,” says Whiteley. “Crews quickly got up, contained the fire to [the apartment] so it hasn’t spread beyond its unit. Residents have been evacuated.”

Whiteley says a transit bus has been provided to residents so they stay warm and EMS is on the scene to provide care if needed.

“At this time, we don’t know of anyone hurt. The fire is under control and out. So we’re just cleaning up and fire prevention inspector is on scene and we’re starting our investigation,” finished Whiteley.

More details will be provided when they become available.
