An expected increase in snow depth

Average snow depth in the area is up slightly compared to last week, except in the north end of the city.

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority says the slight increase was expected with the recent snowfall.

“The average snow depth for the three sites is 55.8 cm, a 1.7 cm increase from the March 1 measurements, and the average water equivalence for the three sites is 76.7 mm, a 34.3 mm decrease from last week,” said Angela Mills NBMCA’s Water Resources Specialist. “We will continue our monitoring throughout the next few months.”

The Conservation Authority is now measuring the snow pack weekly, to monitor conditions leading up to and during the spring freshet.

Snow depth is measured in North Bay, Corbeil and Chisholm.
