Former mayor passes away

The person who named a section of the waterfront ‘The Golden Mile” has passed away.

Former Mayor and veteran Bruce Goulet passed away on Saturday at the age of 99.

Along with many others, he pushed for the preservation of the North Bay waterfront as a ‘people place’ connecting the city’s downtown and offering access to the Lake Nipissing shoreline.

Owner of Bruce Office Supply, Goulet served on many boards and commissions and entered municipal politics in 1960

His family will receive friends at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 16, from 2:30-4:30 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17 at 11:00 am.

Burial will take place this spring at the North Bay Union Cemetery.
