Nipissing and Canadore Relay For Life exceeds fundraising goal

After virtual events the past two years, Nipissing and Canadore students completed an in-person Relay For Life fundraiser this month.

They raised over $13,400 for cancer research, $3,000 more than their goal.

“While we vastly exceeded our goal this year we can’t wait to raise even more, conquering our 14th year at Nipissing and Canadore, and getting back on track to where we were before the pandemic hit,” said Sav Searle, Nipissing/Canadore Relay for Life Club Co-Captain. “It’s truly inspiring as everyone was new to relay this year, and yet everything came together just the way it was supposed to. It really just shows how committed a group of like-minded individuals can be.”

The event was shortened due to COVID protocols with the student club looking forward to hosting a full-scale event next year.

“We are so proud of our students taking the initiative to make a change. They are passionate about making a positive impact and do an incredible job bringing awareness to this cause,” said Emily Wilson, Nipissing University Student Union Vice-President – Student Life.

Over the past thirteen years, the club has raised more than $200,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
