Hundreds of jobs could be created with two projects receiving FedNor funding

Two area projects that aim to fuel innovation and optimize business productivity are getting a funding boost.

FedNor is providing $1.4 million in funding with the projects expected to create hundreds of jobs over the next five years.

North Bay start-up One Red Maple receives over $900,000.

They’re developing an online platform to help small businesses enhance their digital presence and increase sales.

Their app provides pop-up notifications that redirect consumers to local stores offering the same products as major online retailers.

North Bay businesses are currently featured with expansion to the rest of the north and Canada getting underway soon.

Ten jobs are being created with this project, with potentially 340 more over the next five years.

Another $500,000 is going to Pilot Diamond Tools to modernize their manufacturing facility.

The funding will be used to purchase specialized equipment designed to increase productivity and optimize manufacturing processes.

Nine full-time jobs are being created while another 19 are being maintained.
