Main Street, McIntyre Street investigation leads to gun charges for youth

A youth is facing over ten charges after an incident that included a heavy police presence on McIntyre Street East Thursday morning.

On April 7, at approximately 2:00 AM, the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) received a report of an assault at a home on Main Street East. The victim sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the incident and police say was known to the accused.

The accused then fled the residence.

Police say the investigation led city police and the OPP to attend a residence in the 800-block of McIntyre Street East, with the public asked to stay away from the area for several hours.

However, the accused was not at the location.

At approximately 1:00 AM on April 8, city police located and arrested the accused at a residence in the 900-block of Ferguson Street.

The youth was charged with:

  • One count of Assault
  • One count of Firearm – Use while committing offence
  • One count of Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • One count of Pointing a Firearm
  • One count of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • One count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • One count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • One count of Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • One count of Fail to Comply with Sentence
  • Two counts of Failure to comply with release order
The accused is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
