Northern leaders debate tickets on sale now

If you’d like to watch the four main provincial party leaders debate northern issues in person, here’s your chance.

Tickets to the northern leaders debate being hosted by the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities are now on sale.

The event is taking place May 10th at the Capitol Centre and is being held as part of the annual FONOM conference.

A limited number of tickets to the event are available to the general public at a cost of $125.

Tickets can be purchased online at CapitolCentre.org.

In light of the June provincial election, FONOM partnered with the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) to host the debate instead of a Provincial Ministers’ Forum during its annual conference.

“FONOM gives us as northern municipalities an excellent opportunity to work together to discuss areas like economic growth, housing and partnerships,” said FONOM President Danny Whalen. “It also provides the opportunity to form a unified regional voice to work with the provincial government.”

Delegates will also tour the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission’s remanufacturing and repair centre and visit the new Cascades Casino.

FONOM is also organizing a passenger train to bring northern delegates from Cochrane to the conference in North Bay.
