City police map out five year strategic plan

The North Bay Police Service has set its strategic direction for the next five years.

Along with community consultation, Chief Scott Tod says the 2022-2027 strategic plan was developed with their employees.

“It’s not a single strategic direction set by the chief or the board, or the deputy or myself,” he says. “It’s actually something that’s been set by the members and the importance being placed upon the four-pillar strategy on how they’d like to work with the community and internally with each other.”

Those pillars include supporting their members, collaborating with community partners, providing a progressive and responsive service and policing with the confidence and trust of the public.

“It deals with the significant issues that we have in helping gather public trust and confidence in North Bay,” Tod says.“Confidence in our police service and trust that we’re doing the job that they’d like us to do in the community.”

He says the plan also addresses contemporary and breaking issues around inclusion, diversity and systemic issues around the justice and policing system.

The strategic plan is available in the reports section of the North Bay Police Service website.
