Hundreds of Canada Summers Jobs available in the region

Finding a summer job opportunity is only a click away for hundreds of young people in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

There are 526 job opportunities now available across the region through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

“Residents aged 15-30 in Nipissing-Timiskaming are going to get the chance to gain meaningful workplace experience that they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives,” says Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming.  “As we start to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to provide the supports young people need to find their way back into the workforce.”

Nearly half of the jobs are in the private sector, over 220 are with not-for-profits and over 60 are public sector jobs.

Rota says over 250 are located in North Bay, or within the surrounding municipalities of Callander, Astorville, Bonfield, Redbridge, and Rutherglen.

Another 27 jobs are in Mattawa with 20 in Powassan.

The north end of the riding has 200 jobs available.

“Small business owners in Nipissing-Timiskaming increasingly depend on the contributions of young people who work with them,” says Rota. “Canada Summer Jobs 2022 has made sure that more youth and employers can apply for and benefit from the initiative.”

Over $1.6 million is being invested by the Government of Canada locally.
