Peter Chirico running for mayor in North Bay

North Bay has its first mayoral candidate for the October election.

Peter Chirico filed his nomination papers on the first day they were being accepted.

Chirico is President of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce and a past Deputy Mayor.

“I’ve had people from across the City and from all walks of life asking me if I would run,” he says. “I have a passion for North Bay and think brighter days are ahead.  I want my family, friends and neighbours to be proud of North Bay again.”

Even though he filed on the first day, Chirico says with a provincial election right around the corner, he doesn’t plan on campaigning until the provincial vote is over.

A campaign launch will take place in June with a full platform released over the course of the summer.

“I have a vision for the future of our City and a plan on getting us there and I look forward to sharing that with the community,” says Chirico.

The municipal election is slated for Monday, October 24.

The deadline for those looking to run for mayor, council or school board trustee positions is 2 pm on August 19.
