Bulldogs still recruiting ahead of new season

Bulldogs football is back in North Bay.

The North Bay Bulldogs say registration continues for four programs, with a full slate of teams playing this summer.

They include bantam for 13 and 14-year-olds, junior varsity for 15 and 16-year-olds, senior varsity for 17, 18 and 19-year-olds and the NFC men’s team for players ages 20 and up.

“With the two years away from tackle football, we have many new faces on our teams, but our coaching staff and our volunteers have worked hard to create this football program so kids can have a positive football experience this summer,” says Marc Mathon, President of the Bulldogs.

Teams have started training camp but he says there is still room for more players. “We still have a need for more players and there are some great playing opportunities available for 17 & 18-year-olds,” Mathon adds.

Players looking to join the Bulldogs can call 705 498-5929, visit www.northbaybulldogs.com or go to the Omischl Sports Complex and talk to a coach Friday at 6-7 pm or Saturday from noon to 1 pm.

Something new this year is the Bulldogs tunnel for players to run through during home games.

“It’s huge. The manufacturer said it’s the biggest one they have made so far,” says Mathon.

Preseason games start May 21 with the bantam team hosting Peel and the junior and senior varsity teams entertaining Sault Ste Marie.

There’s a BBQ lunch at 1 pm with kick-off at 2 pm.

A triple-header goes on June 4th with the season opener for three of the four Bulldogs teams.
