Consolidation projects nearing completion at Chippewa and West Ferris

Work involving several 3:2 consolidation projects at two North Bay high schools is nearly done.

Craig Myles, Education Director, provided an update on the projects at the Near North District School Board’s recent meeting.

The board learned that at Chippewa Secondary School, the auditorium interior and exterior updates are almost 90 percent complete and power to the new field scoreboard and maintenance building will begin this month. “A weather-related event damaged the new learning commons space, and assessment and correction work is beginning,” states a release.

At West Ferris Secondary School, the hospitality suite and cosmetology classroom are complete.

“The learning commons has some adjustments to be made, but the book collection and technology have been reinstalled and space will be ready for use this month,” states a release from NNDSB.

Work began about a year ago

The 3:2 consolidation in North Bay resulted in Widdifield Secondary School closing in 2020.
