City police bicycle patrols on the road again

North Bay Police bicycle patrols are back on the street for the summer.

The patrols will be focused on the downtown core and surrounding areas, along with identified priority neighbourhoods.

The police service says the bikes allow officers to easily patrol areas of the city that a police vehicle may not be able to, including the Kinsmen Trail and Kate Pace Way.

“The presence of a visible officer on patrol also helps to deter crimes before they happen and provides citizens with an easy way to engage police when needed,” states a release.

City police e-bikes are fully equipped with police lights and sirens and are able to reach a top speed of 42km/h.
