Unique and successful fundraiser for The Vest Project

The Vest Project is benefiting from a unique fundraiser.

On May 14, Callander resident Clarke Heipel rode his bike 182 km from his home to Temiskaming, Quebec and back, raising over $2,000.

His 12-hour journey included stops at Canada Meat Group and Near North Meats, where he posed with his Ukrainian flag.

The three families that own the meat processing facility, have family and friends still in Ukraine.

“I feel good when I’m pushing myself, and able to raise funds at the same time,” he says.

Heipel wanted to hit the 200-kilometre mark, however, the weather that day didn’t cooperate.

The Vest Project is raising funds to purchase non-lethal protective gear for the defenders of Ukraine.
