Powassan Lions’ Club Fish Fry sizzling once again

The Powassan Lions’ Club Fish Fry is back once again after a two-year hiatus and the Club couldn’t be more excited.

It’s the biggest event that the club hosts and its member are ready to see its return.

That’s according to the Club’s Secretary, Sue Oshell, who says there is excitement in the air.

“It’s one of our major fundraisers,” she says. “We’re really excited and hoping we’ll get a good attendance, and give some money back to our community.”

The event has been going on for 75 years or so – and for the last thirty has been held at the Powassan Sportsplex.

In addition to a hearty meal, patrons can enjoy a beverage from the cash bar, and purchase tickets for a chance to win a Selki kayak, a Giesler boat replica coffee table, or a Muskoka chair, all while being entertained with live music performed by the Blackbird Trio.

Dinner will be served between 5:00 and 9:00 pm on Wednesday, June 15 at a cost of $25 per person.

The evening will also boast a cash bar and live entertainment by the Blackbird Trio.

Oshell says this is a community event through and through, with volunteers from minor hockey, curling club, and the community all taking part.

“So many people come out and gives us a hand,” she says. “[…] we’re hoping we’ll have a good crowd.”
