The West Nipissing Chamber of Commerce is postponing its feature event until next year.
Officials say after Feast on the Farm won Tourism Ontario’s Culinary Event of the Year in 2020, their team wanted to ensure the event would keep the highest of standards following the pandemic.
“Unfortunately, due to an overall lack of participation, this is something we could not guarantee at this time,” wrote Zack Lafleur, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “Many of our local businesses are still feeling the adverse effects of the pandemic and extended lockdowns imposed on them for the past two years. Lack of adequate staffing and the substantial increase in food prices have also been major deterrents for our participants. We feel that allowing our local businesses more time to prepare themselves will lead to a more successful event in the future.”
The Chamber says they’re looking forward to the event returning in 2023.
