Police can pickup unwanted weapons for free

The North Bay Police Service is reminding residents that unwanted firearms, ammunition, weapons, and explosives can be retrieved free of charge from your home.

Citing several recent incidents of people entering the police station with a weapon being delivered for destruction, police also say these items are not allowed to be brought inside the police station.

They say all of the incidents were resolved safely for everyone involved.

Officers can go to your home to pick up the unwanted item, free of charge, by calling city police at 705-497-5555.

Anyone attending in person is asked to leave the item in your vehicle and officers will meet you outside the police station to retrieve it.
