Maclennan withdraws from mayor’s race

North Bay is back to a two-person race for mayor.

Jason Maclennan, Communications Director with North Bay Pride, confirms he is no longer seeking the job.

This after he posted on social media this week that due to “some serious issues” within his family he has decided to withdraw from the race.

“Thank you for all the help and encouragement which is appreciated,” he wrote on Facebook. “I guess it’s just not my time yet.”

Current councillor Johanne Brousseau, Chair of Community Services, and Peter Chirico, President of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce, are the two candidates seeking the mayor’s seat on council, so far.

Municipal election day is Monday, October 24.
