OutLoud North Bay is challenging everyone in the community that believes in love and acceptance to stand with them.
This is after the local youth-led centre became the target of thousands of hateful comments, reviews, emails and phone calls last week.
“Within these comments, there have also been threats of violence towards our local businesses that support OutLoud, our volunteers and youth,” states a release. “These cyber-attacks are not an isolated incident, this happens every day in every place including North Bay.”
Officials say the attacks came in response to a Youth Drag Show event, which was requested by the youth.
“This event is a closed event to members only for the youth to express themselves in the art form of drag and have fun with their peers,” states the release.
OutLoud North Bay says this isn’t the first time they’ve dealt with hate and says it’s likely not the last either.
In response to recent events security has been increased and the centre is making changes to ensure all of its members are safe.
