Neighbour disputes in West Nipissing lead to charges

A couple of separate neighbour disputes this week in West Nipissing have led to charges.

First, the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dispute on St. Jean Road on July 18.

Police say one neighbour physically assaulted the other, who then displayed a sharp-edged weapon.

There were no injuries.

One person, aged 54, was charged with assault, while the other person, aged 61, was charged with assault with a weapon.

Both were released on an Undertaking with appearances at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 4 in West Nipissing.

On Thursday morning, police also responded to a neighbour dispute on Belanger Street in Sturgeon Falls.

The OPP says one neighbour damaged property belonging to another neighbour.

A 66-year-old West Nipissing resident is charged with mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 1 in West Nipissing.
