A mural is now greeting people near the front entrance of the YMCA on Chippewa Street.
The art piece features colourful lines, numerous images and symbols, words like community, inclusiveness and the theme ‘better together’.
“When all of this imagery is together it just goes to show that no matter how diverse we might be, how different our ideas might be, when we come together we’re at our best and that’s what I wanted to show in the mural,” says artist Carissa MacIntosh.
The project was a collaboration between Clean Green Beautiful (CGB) North Bay, the YMCA, the Stockfish Family Foundation and MacIntosh.
“That’s how we like to do things is with other partners,” says Hariett Madigan, CGB chair. “This represents the beginning of our venture into beautification in this city and we hope to keep things like this happening all throughout the city.”
Madigan also says work continues behind the scenes to see a sculpture set up at the waterfront.
