Moose tag cuts in north surprises OFAH

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is shocked by a decision to severely limit moose hunting in Northern Ontario.  The Ministry of Natural Resources is limiting the hunt because of a declining population.  The federation is also concerned about the drop, and wants the MNR to examine all factors including poaching and kills by Aboriginal hunters.  The federation says hunters shouldn’t be the only group the MNR targets when it wants to manage the moose population.  One area that’s hit hard by the MNR decision is the Kirkland Lake Wildlife Management Unit where moose tags are being cut by 93 percent.
