Expanding film and TV post-production in the north

Three new film and TV post-production partnerships have been formed in the north.

Northern Ontario Film Studios (NOFS) is working with Picture Shop, Parachute North Post Production and WMB Post Production Services North, which will be housed at various facilities across the region.

NOFS says having post-production services in North Bay and Sudbury allows film and television productions to stay in the north to complete post and delivery of their project.

“I’ve been involved in over 70 film and television projects over the course of my career, and having locally available post-production talent of this calibre right here in the North is great,” says David Anselmo, NOFS – Strategic Business Development.  “Being able to offer them the flexibility of multiple facilities in the region to work from will give these service companies the competitive advantage over others and will allow their professional services to extend throughout the entire region.”

One of the companies, Picture Shop, is expanding its northern Ontario footprint with a new location in the NOFS North Bay studio.

“We’ve been glad to support northern Ontario and Northern Ontario Film Studios since 2015 with our post-production dailies and on-location services,” says Jane Tattersall, Sr. Vice President. “I believe very strongly that bringing our expertise and working with and training locals is key to growing the industry and enhancing the attractiveness of northern Ontario within our province and around the world.”

WMB Post Production Services North says with most of the Post Production work being completed in Toronto, their goal was to transition more of the services to northern Ontario.

“The regions of North Bay and Sudbury need additional Post Production workflow expertise, experience and systems, which our new company will provide,” says Michael Beard, Post Production Supervisor.

NOFS currently has over 70,000 square feet and 60 acres of studio space available to the film and television industry across northern Ontario.
