Two men facing fraud charges in North Bay

The North Bay Police Service has charged two men, one from Oshawa and another from Montreal with fraud.

City police report four victims in two separate households received similar calls from scammers claiming to be family or friends that had been recently arrested and needed bail money.

Police say the accused attended both households, posing as couriers.  After getting about $9,500 from the first household, police say the accused were arrested when they went to the second household.

A search resulted in police locating about $9,300 in cash, which was returned to the victims, who are not known to the accused.

The accused were held pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
