Drowning victims identified by OPP

The OPP has identified two drowning victims after a canoe capsized in Legrou Lake, south of Arnstein, in East Mills Township.

The incident happened on August 30, with Provincial Police earlier reporting four people were on board. 

Two people were able to swim to shore while a third person was located by nearby cottagers.

The OPP reports that despite life-saving techniques being attempted the person was pronounced deceased and OPP divers have since recovered the body of the fourth person.

The deceased have been identified as Stephanie Imeson, 25-years-of-age, from Chatham-Kent and Derek Comartin, 27-years-of-age, from Stoney Point.

The investigation continues under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCCO-OFPS).
