Four local CSPNE schools receiving Ontario Ecoschools certifications

Four local Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) schools are receiving Ontario Ecoschools certifications.

In order to receive an EcoSchools certification, participating schools had to initiate projects that had a positive environmental impact.

École publique aux Quatre-Vents in Parry Sound has received the Bronze level of certification. École secondaire publique Nipissing Ouest and École secondaire publique Écho du Nord receive Silver certification, while École secondaire publique Odyssée in North Bay takes top honours with a Platinum certification.

Some of the projects the schools took on included outside classes, creating art with recycled materials, picking up garbage in the community, nature walks, gardening (both indoor and outdoor) and lots more.

The board reports as of June 15, 2022, CSPNE schools have completed 51 green actions, experienced 100 hours of outdoor learning and planted or maintained 87 trees in one or more of the communities served by the schools.

The board congratulates the participants who contributed to the many eco-friendly projects.
