Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is wishing North Bay a happy Pride.
North Bay Pride festivities kick off Wednesday, Sept. 14 with a flag raising at 4 pm.
“A special thank you to the organizers and volunteers who made this event possible,” he says in the video message posted online. “Since 2017, you’ve shown Canadians what standing together with the 2SLGBTQI+ community looks like. Together, you’re helping build a community and a country where more Canadians can be who they are and love who they love.”
Trudeau says Pride is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Canada strong.
“By celebrating that diversity you’re standing against the hatred and discrimination that far too many 2SLGBTQI+ face,” he says.
The Prime Minister concluded the message by thanking residents for showing up, for helping create a safer community for everyone and for demanding better for all Canadians.
