Airport emergency exercise lined up for Sept. 21

A full-scale live emergency exercise is taking place next week at the North Bay Jack Garland Airport.

The event is designed to give a variety of emergency services the opportunity to test and evaluate response procedures to ensure effectiveness.

North Bay Police, city fire crews and emergency medical services will be taking part along with the Red Cross.

“Members of the North Bay Police will have firearms with them as part of the exercise,” states a release.  “At no point during the exercise will there be simulations of fires or pyrotechnics.”

Officials are advising the public so they aren’t alarmed by any emergency activity they may see at the airport, airside or in the Terminal Building.

The exercise is scheduled for 10:30 am to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
