SJSH students collect over 2,300 lbs of food

Over 2,300 pounds of food is being delivered to the North Bay Food Bank on Wednesday.

That’s how much was collected by teams of St. Joseph-Scollard Hall students Tuesday evening as they canvassed a few areas of the city as a part of the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Officials are thanking everyone who donated.

They also say due to unforeseen circumstances, Chippewa had to postpone their collection.

Students from Ecole Secondaire Algonquin and West Ferris Secondary School will be collecting from 5 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, Oct. 5.

They will be canvassing the following areas: West Ferris, Pinewood, Thibeault Terrace, and the neighbourhoods between Algonquin Ave and O’Brien St.

Members of the community in those areas are invited to place their non-perishable food items in a bag or box in a visible location outside their door or students will knock on the door.

For any home that was missed, residents are encouraged to bring their donations directly to the North Bay Food Bank on Fisher Street.
